Hot Weather and Air Conditioning

Here are some measures you can take to help reduce heat buildup during the day.

As summer sets in, we understand that the summer heat can be challenging. However, due to operational and infrastructure limitations, air conditioners cannot be installed everywhere.

Here are some measures you can take to help reduce heat buildup during the day:

• Close blinds or curtains during peak sunlight hours
• Turn off electronic equipment (computers, printers, etc.) when not in use, as they generate heat
• Keep doors closed to prevent warm air from circulating
• Use fans where available to improve airflow
• Open windows in the evening or early morning to let in cooler air and ventilate the space

What's more, in extreme heat, it's crucial to take steps to avoid heatstroke and other heat-related health problems.

Here are a few essential tips: drink plenty of water, find cool places to rest, avoid strenuous physical exertion, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. In the event of heat-related symptoms, it's important to consult a health professional or call Info-Santé at 811.
