On Monday, February 23, UTHC delegates were warmly welcomed at the CLSC in Tasiujaq. Despite the intense cold of this February morning, the atmosphere was friendly.
Pasha Berthe, a member of the Tulattavik Board of Rirectors representing the population of Tasiujaq, as well as the CLSC team, offered a sincere and attentive welcome to UTHC delegation.
The visit began with a tour of the facilities guided by the Assistant Head Nurse, Maude Levasseur. She presented the services offered and shared the current needs of the community. She also explained the vision of the CLSC's care team to support staff and patients on a daily basis.
UTHC delegates took the time to engage with employees. These discussions provided a better understanding of local realities and the particularities of the health and social services offered in Tasiujaq.
During lunch hour, Executive Director Larry Watt addressed the public on local FM radio. He presented the important points from the last Board meeting. Several citizens participated in the open line. True to his commitment, Larry Watt listened and answered transparently to the questions and concerns of the Tasiujamiut.
In the afternoon, a meeting was held with the new Mayor and the Executive Director of the Northern Village of Tasiujaq. Discussion focused on finding concrete and sustainable solutions to address the lack of space to offer health, social and community services.
For the Board of Directors and management of Tulattavik, these visits to the villages of Ungava are essential. They allow us to stay close to the communities, support the teams and better meet the needs of patients and residents.
